According to a report from TBR, Arsenal are impressed with the progress of Valencia midfield sensation Javi Guerra. The Premier League club are considering making a move in the January transfer window to acquire his services.
Who is Javi Guerra?
Javi Guerra started his career at Villarreal before moving to Valencia in 2019. He was then promoted to the senior squad in 2023 and has been on an improving roll since then. He has managed to establish himself as a mainstay in the squad.
Guerra featured in 40 games last season, netting four goals and assisting once. He averaged 1.2 shots, 0.4 key passes, and 1 dribble per game (stats via whoscored).
The Spanish midfielder is versatile to don different roles in the midfield. He is great at making timely tackles and covers a lot of ground. In the final third, he also creates goal-scoring opportunities and has great finishing abilities.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race
Though Arsenal have a solid squad altogether, they still lack quality in the middle of the park. While Javi Guerra isn’t a notable name to strengthen the midfield unit, he can be a valuable addition to the unit.
Guerra has done well in his short career so far and can have a bright future if he continues to develop his game. His versatility and adaptibility will be well suited in Mikel Arteta‘s system.
From the player’s perspective, joining the Gunners could be an exciting opportunity as it will allow the youngster to elevate his career. He will be able to learn from some of the best names in the game. Though he has a €100 million release clause, Valencia should be ready to let him go for €30 million.
While the transfer fee shouldn’t be an issue for Arsenal, they need to be quick to sign the player as the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also present in the race.
