In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that West Ham United have identified Sparta Prague wide player Angelo Preciado as a target. It has been revealed that the Hammers are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Ecuadorian winger next year.
Preciado’s Impressive Form In European Football
Preciado has managed to shine at times for Sparta Prague during this campaign after putting in a few impressive displays for them on the right flank. The 26-year-old has picked up three assists in ten matches for his current employers this season across multiple competitions.
The Ecuadorian talent has been a good performer in Europe as he is averaging 1.5 shots, 2.0 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball after making 53.3% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).
Preciado has caught the eye with his performances for Sparta Prague this season but the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if West Ham manage to get him on board next year.
Should West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui Move In For Preciado?
Preciado can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the opponent’s half. The Ecuadorian talent can chip in by picking up the odd assist for his team but needs to find a way to score more goals from the right wing.
Preciado is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-back if told to do so by his manager. We can expect him to bring more quality to West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui’s squad. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at the London Stadium in the coming years.
At 26, Preciado has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Hammers to pursue in 2025. Hence, Lopetegui should focus on moving in for him when the transfer window reopens this January or at the end of this campaign.
