Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the EFL Cup. Spurs made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the fifth minute thanks to Timo Werner’s effort. Pape Matar Sarr doubled his side’s advantage in the 25th minute but Matheus Nunes got a goal back for Man City in the first half injury-time. Ange Postecoglu’s men went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.
The North London outfit sat on their lead well in the second half and managed to earn a narrow 2-1 win in front of their home fans.

He was a positive influence at both ends of the field in the first half and did well to score Tottenham’s second goal in the 25th minute.

Johnson caught the eye at times but failed to register a goal.

He had a few bright moments in the final third but never looked like he would score.

Werner did well to score early in the game but should have added to his goal tally in the second half.
