In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that West Ham United are keen on recruiting Brighton and Hove Albion playmaker Julio Enciso. It has been revealed that the Hammers are eyeing a move to bring the Paraguayan attacker to the London Stadium next year.
Enciso’s Injury Ravaged Season In The Premier League
Enciso endured an injury-plagued campaign at the English club as he missed a lot of games for them due to a serious injury. The 20-year-old secured a couple of assists in 15 appearances for the Seagulls last season in various competitions.
The Paraguayan talent was a good performer in the final third based on his average of 2.3 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.2% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Brighton will run out in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for the Hammers to land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
What Will Enciso Add To West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui’s Side?
Enciso can find some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. However, the Paraguayan talent has to figure out a way to stay injury-free if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level.
Enciso is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. We can expect him to add more firepower to West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui’s attack. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at the London Stadium in the coming years.
At 20, the future looks quite promising for Enciso as long as he continues to improve with each season. Hence, it makes sense for the Hammers to try and get a deal done for the Paraguayan playmaker this January or next summer. He already has some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at West Ham.
