In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Cavalier FC defender Richard King. It has been claimed that the Magpies would have to rival Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United in the race to land the Jamaican talent next year.
King’s Impressive Rise In Jamaican Football
King has come through the youth ranks of the Jamaican club and has done well to establish himself as a regular member of their first XI. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net five times and grabbed one assist in 72 matches for Cavalier FC so far across various competitions.
The Jamaican talent has caught the eye with his performances for his current club on the defensive end of the field. He is currently one of the best young defenders in Jamaican football, so Eddie Howe would do well to bring him on board next year.
However, King has still not proven his worth outside his homeland. Hence, he would be a risky option for the Magpies to consider this winter or at the end of this campaign.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Move In For King?
King is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can even play his way out from the back.
However, the Jamaican defensive ace is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to adjust to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Newcastle United can manage to snap him up next year.
King would inject more bite and steel into Eddie Howe’s defence. At 22, he has the potential to be a future star in European football. Thus, the Magpies should focus on moving in for him soon. However, Howe would have to be patient with his development before he can unlock the best out of him at the Tyneside club.
With all things considered, King would be a decent option for Newcastle to pursue in 2025 as long as they can sign him for the right price.
