Manchester City Summer Transfer Review 2024: Has Pep Guardiola Added Enough Quality?

Manchester City were linked to many players but they didn’t prefer spending big in the summer transfer window. They only acquired a couple of names as they showed confidence in the existing stars. They did well last season and will be aiming ever higher this time.

Manchester City’s Summer Arrivals

Savinho

Pep Guardiola wanted to improve their strength in the wide areas and hence, they signed Savinho for $43.6 million. The player has already been impressive in the pre-season and initial games. A lot will be expected from him as he is someone who can add a different element to the squad.

Ilkay Gundogan

Manchester City got their ex-captain Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer after Barcelona failed to keep him due to their financial crisis. The player left the English giant the previous year to accept a new challenge. But as he has come back, he will again have a prominent role in the team.

Has Pep Guardiola Added Enough Quality To His Manchester City Squad?

Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City was already a star-studded squad, that lifted the Premier League title last season. They had all the bases covered with enough depth and quality. Though Julián Alvarez’s departure marks a big event, they still have enough players to cover his position.

The arrivals of Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan mean there is no shortage of options in the offensive pack. With almost a similar squad to the previous game, the Spanish coach will try to lift all the trophies possible. The 2024-25 campaign could be his last season at Etihad Stadium.
