Aston Villa will lock horns with Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park this Tuesday night as they try to secure a victory on the road in the EFL Cup. The Villans managed to earn an impressive 3-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Midlands derby recently, so they would be full of confidence ahead of this cup game in midweek.
Unai Emery will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could make a few changes to his first XI for this clash. Jhon Duran will spearhead the Aston Villa attacker on his own up top while Ollie Watkins makes way for him and drops to the bench.
4-2-3-1 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Wycombe
Defence
Joe Gauci will play in between the sticks for the Villans as he looks to keep a clean sheet away from home in midweek. Diego Carlos will continue to function alongside Pau Torres at the centre of the Aston Villa defence as they try to keep the opposition at bay throughout the 90 minutes.
Lamare Bogarde will fill in at right-back while Ian Maatsen hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get.
Ezri Konsa will be named on the bench as he provides cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Youri Tielemans and Ross Barkley will operate as the holding midfielders as they try to dominate the game in the middle of the park. The talented trio of Jacob Ramsey, Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey will play just ahead of them as part of Emery’s attack. Both Ramsey and Bailey would be instructed to use their pace to get in behind the Wycombe defence this Tuesday night.
Amadou Onana and Morgan Rogers will be rested on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second half if needed.
Attack
Jhon Duran will lead the charge for the West Midlands club in the final third. He would be keen on finding the back of the net this week after doing so against Wolves recently.
Ollie Watkins will be rested on the bench.
