In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo stated that Real Madrid forward Rodrygo is generating interest from England. It is believed that both Liverpool and Manchester City are showing interest in recruiting the Brazilian striker from Los Blancos this summer.
Rodrygo’s Productive Campaign In Spanish Football
The 23-year-old put in a string of impressive displays for the Madrid giants on the offensive end of the field in the previous campaign. Rodrygo found the back of the net 17 times and grabbed nine assists in 51 matches for Los Blancos last season across all competitions.
The Brazilian talent was a reliable performer in front of the opponent’s goal as he averaged 2.6 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball in the opposition half after completing 89.9% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, Carlo Ancelotti won’t be under any pressure to cash in on him this month.
Can Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Afford To Lose Rodrygo This Summer?
Rodrygo excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range and is a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field.
The Brazilian attacker can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the opponent’s half and has got the eye to set up some good plays for others around him up top. He is primarily a striker but can also function as a wide player on either flank if told to do so by his manager.
Rodrygo remains an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad despite the recent arrival of Kylian Mbappe. He has got the winning mindset to help Los Blancos challenge for some major silverware over the next few years.
At 23, Rodrygo has his best years ahead of him and is still under a long-term contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Thus, Real Madrid cannot afford to lose a player of his quality before the end of this summer transfer window.
