In a recent tweet, journalist Florian Plettenberg stated that Everton are in talks to land Barcelona striker Vitor Roque. It has been claimed that the Toffees are eyeing a move to bring the Brazilian centre-forward to Goodison Park in this summer transfer period.
Roque’s Impressive Rise At The Nou Camp Last Season
The 19-year-old caught the eye at times for Barca in the previous campaign when he put in a couple of impressive displays for them in the final third. Roque scored a couple of goals in 16 appearances for the Catalan outfit last season in all competitions.
The talented teenager made most of his appearances off the bench which could be why he only averaged 0.9 shots, 0.1 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in La Liga. He was tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 76.6% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2031 which could make it difficult for Everton to land him on the cheap this month.
What Will Roque Add To Everton Boss Sean Dyche’s Side?
Roque can create some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third when he is playing well on the field. The Brazilian sensation can even make some clever runs with the ball up top. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League.
Roque would add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. He is already good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the Merseyside club. At 19, Roque has the potential to be a future star in European football. Therefore, he would be a great signing for the Toffees to consider in the long run.
However, Dyche has to be patient with Roque’s development before he can unlock the best out of the gifted starlet at Goodison Park. With all things considered, the Toffees would be wise to get a deal done for the Brazilian attacker this summer.
