In a recent report, Canal RCN mentioned that West Ham United are in the running to land Fluminense winger Jhon Arias this summer. It has been claimed that the Hammers are facing competition in the form of Sevilla and several other clubs hoping to land the Colombian wide player this off-season.
Arias’ Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football
The 26-year-old has got a wealth of experience in Brazilian football and has managed to prove himself to be a capable performer for Fluminense’s senior team. Arias made 168 appearances for the Brazilian outfit so far, netting 35 goals and picking up 38 assists on all fronts. The Colombian sensation has caught the eye at times in Brazilian football but has been far from a consistent goal-getter for Fluminense. However, there is no denying that he has the skill set to serve as a good, rotational piece in Julen Lopetegui’s squad next season. His current contract at the Brazilian side will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Hammers to get a deal done for him on the cheap in this transfer window.
Should West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui Snap Arias Up This Summer?
Arias is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. The Colombian talent has got the vision to orchestrate a few inviting chances for others around him on the offensive third of the pitch. However, he is still unproven at the highest level and would need time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if West Ham manage to get him on board later this year. We can expect Arias to add more firepower to West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the London Stadium later this summer. At 26, Arias has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a solid option for the Hammers to pursue ahead of the new campaign. Therefore, Lopetegui would be wise to snap him up in this summer transfer window.
