In a recent report, Marca claimed that Real Madrid could make a late move for Al-Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte if David Alaba’s injury keeps him sidelined beyond October. It is understood that Los Blancos are willing to assess Alaba’s injury at the end of August before deciding on whether to make a move for the Spanish centre-back this summer.
Laporte’s Impressive Form For Both His Club And Country
Laporte has enjoyed a solid spell at Al-Nassr thus far and did well to help his country Spain win the UEFA Euro 2024 trophy in Germany earlier this summer. The Spaniard has made 39 appearances for the Saudi club so far, scoring four goals and grabbing one assist in various competitions.
The 30-year-old was a rock at the back for Al-Nassr as he managed to put in a lot of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. His current deal at the Saudi club will run out in the summer of 2026, so Los Blancos would have to launch a good offer if they want to bring Laporte to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Go For Laporte?
Laporte loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to make some important interceptions for his team. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can use his strong 1.91m frame to win his fair share of 50-50 aerial duels.
The Spain international is a great passer of the ball as well. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could still play a key role for a top club like Real Madrid if Carlo Ancelotti decides to move in for him in this summer transfer period.
At 30, Laporte has still got a few good seasons left in him to play at his best. He has what it takes to help Los Blancos compete across all fronts in the coming years. At the moment, David Alaba is sidelined with an injury, so it makes sense for Ancelotti to go for someone like Laporte who would add more depth to his Real Madrid defence. The Spaniard might also fancy returning to his homeland in search of more success.
