In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies. It is believed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to recruit the Canada international after the Copa America concludes later this summer.
Davies’ Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Davies managed to catch the eye with his performances on the left side of the Bayern backline in the previous campaign. The 23-year-old scored three goals and grabbed six assists in 42 matches for the Bavarian club last season in all competitions.
The Canadian sensation gave a good account of himself on the left flank and deserves credit for averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.3 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per game in Bundesliga football. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after making 88.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire at the end of next season which could open the door for Los Blancos to recruit him on a cut-price deal later this summer.
Is Davies A Good Choice For Real Madrid?
Davies is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can even make a few decent chances for his teammates from the left wing. The Canada international is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.
Davies would undeniably enhance the quality of Real Madrid‘s starting XI. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club next season. Hence, Davies would be an excellent choice for Los Blancos to consider this off-season.
At 23, the Canadian sensation has got his peak years ahead of him and could help Real Madrid compete for a lot of major honours over the next decade. Therefore, Ancelotti would be wise to go all out to get Davies on board before the end of this transfer period. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in Spain.
