In a recent report, i stated that Newcastle United have identified Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Pedro Neto as a target. It is believed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Portuguese wide player later this summer.
Neto’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football
Neto had a decent campaign at the West Midlands club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the offensive third of the field. The 24-year-old did well to pick up 11 assists and score three goals in 24 matches for Wolves last season across all fronts.
The Portuguese wide player has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 1.8 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.4% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Molineux Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Newcastle to get a deal done for him on the cheap this off-season.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Bring Neto On Board?
Neto is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with power from long-range and has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Portuguese wing wizard can chip in by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also function as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if needed.
We can expect Neto to bring more goals and creativity to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s match-day squad. At 24, he has his best years ahead of him which makes him an excellent choice for the Magpies to consider this summer.
Neto might even help the Tyneside club compete for some major honours over the next few years. Therefore, Howe would be wise to bring the Portuguese wide player on board in the upcoming transfer window.
