According to German outlet BILD, Hertha Berlin star kid Boris Lum is on the radar of Manchester City along with other major European clubs. The Premier League champions could be making a move in the summer to sign the youngster.
Who is Boris Lum?
Boris Lum is one of the most exciting German players at the youth level. He was a part of Borussia Friedrichsfelde and Union Berlin before joining Hertha Berlin in 2016. Since then, he has been climbing up the ladders and building a reputation for himself.
Lum earned promotion to the U17 and U19 squads in a short time due to his solid performances. He has even trained with the senior team under the supervision of manager Cristian Fiel. It’s just a matter of time before he will start taking onto the field in the first team.
The German youngster plays in the midfield as a defensive pick. He is known for his positioning, tackles, and interceptions. He featured in 45 games this season, netting a goal and providing four assists (stats via transfermarkt).
Is Boris Lum a star in the making?
Manchester City’s alleged interest in Boris Lum is no surprise to anyone. The club possesses some of the best talents across the globe. They believe in procuring emerging talents and nourishing them into world-class performers.
The Citizens then either use them in their senior team or generate cash by offloading them in the transfer window. The case with the 16-year-old will be no different. He will have been given guidance and game time to develop his game.
With the kind of potential he has, the player could be a star in the making. But only time will be able to answer this question. For now, Lum’s contract runs until 2026 with a release clause of €5 million. Triggering the release clause shouldn’t be an issue for Manchester City.
