Joao Gomes had a breakthrough season
Wolves needed someone to step up after they lost Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes last summer. Hence, they signed Joao Gomes from Flamengo for €18.7m. The signing turned out to be a good move as the player formed a solid pair with Mario Lemina in the middle of the park.

Wolves to demand a high fee
Despite some good recruitments in the midfield section last summer, Liverpool struggled in that area due to a lack of defensive midfielder. The management was forced to make Wataru Endo play relentlessly, affecting his quality and intensity.
Hence, acquiring a defensive midfielder should be on the priority list for the Reds. In that line, the signing of Joao Gomes would make sense as he would bolster the unit with his defensive traits. His presence in the lineup will help others to play higher on the pitch.
