In a recent report, Tipsbladet revealed that Everton are locked in a three-way battle for Espanyol forward Martin Braithwaite this summer. It has been claimed that the Toffees are facing stiff competition from Leicester City and Southampton in the race to land the Danish striker this summer.
Braithwaite’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football Last Season
Braithwaite enjoyed a productive campaign at the Spanish club as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 33-year-old banged in 22 goals and picked up three assists in 45 matches for Espanyol last season in multiple competitions.
The Danish talent led the line well for Espanyol and deserves a ton of credit for helping them secure promotion back to La Liga. He remains a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and could be a good, short-term addition to Everton’s squad this summer.
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Toffees could potentially land him on the cheap later this year.
Is Braithwaite A Good Option For Everton?
Braithwaite is proficient at finding space for himself to get to few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to set up a few promising chances for others around him in the final third.
The Danish talent is a good dribbler with the ball as well and can still chip in by scoring a lot of crucial goals for his team. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level but would need time to settle into life at Goodison Park.
We can expect Braithwaite to add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club next season.
At 33, Braithwaite has a few good years left in him to play at a high level. Thus, he would be a solid option for the Toffees in the short term. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of Premier League football if the Merseyside club can find a way to get him on board this summer.
