In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to land Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu. It is believed that Spurs could face competition in the form of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal in pursuit of the Turkish defender in the summer.
Kadioglu’s Impressive Run Of Form In Turkish Football
Kadioglu has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Turkish club after producing a series of impressive performances on the left side of their backline. The Arnhem-born talent has found the back of the net three times and picked up four assists in 39 matches for Fenerbahce this season across multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old has been a good performer on the left flank based on his average of 2.0 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.6 clearances, 0.9 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been careful when distributing the ball from the back after completing 84.5% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turkish club will expire in the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Kadioglu Up?
Kadioglu is a decent tackler of the ball and can make some crucial interceptions for his side when defending inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and can make a few driving runs with the ball on the left flank.
The Turkish sensation can shoot the ball purely from long range and can create some inviting chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half. He mainly operates as a right-back but can also play as a left-back or as a central midfielder if told to do so by his manager.
Kadioglu would undeniably enhance the quality of Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 24, Kadioglu has still got a lot of room to grow as a footballer, so Spurs would be wise to go all out to snap him up when the transfer commences later this summer.
