Liverpool will be going through a transition period ahead of the next season. They will bring in the successor of Jurgen Klopp alongside the transfers of several players in the squad. According to Fichajes, the club is ready to let Luis Diaz leave if they get an offer of over €100 million.
The Reds are willing to cash in on the attacker in the summer if Mohamed Salah pens down a new contract at Anfield. The club wants to avail funds for the new manager and then strengthen the squad in other sections as well.
Luis Diaz’s impressive stint at Liverpool
Luis Diaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto in the 2022 winter for a reported fee of around €45 million. He started off his life in the Premier League with an impressive display of performances. However, he has deemed a bit this season though his numbers are decent.
The 27-year-old has featured in 36 games this season so far, netting 10 goals and providing five assists. He is averaging 2.3 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game. Though he mostly plays at the left wing, he can also operate on the right flank if needed (stats via whoscored).
The Colombian attacker likes to cut in towards the goal to find space for passing or shooting. He likes to dribble his way to the goal and create good opportunities. However, he is a bit weak when it comes to holding on to the ball or providing an extra layer of defence in the backline.
€140 million for Luis Diaz?
Liverpool’s priority remains extending the stays of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. If Salah signs a new contract amid interest from Saudi, the club will be ready to cash in on Luis Diaz. It won’t be a bad pick as they will still have quality players in the attacking unit.
However, the Reds aren’t going to accept anything less than €100 million for the player. They are expecting to make around €140 million from the sale of Diaz. It will be interesting to see if any club will be ready to pay this hefty amount or not.
