As confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign young Sávio from Girona at the end of the season. The documents are expected to be signed by both the clubs in the coming days and then announced officially.
The player was signed by Ligue 2 side Troyes in 2022 before moving to PSV Eindhoven on a loan and eventually being loaned to Girona last summer. Girona is partly owned by City Football Group (CFG), the company that owns Manchester City and several other clubs across the globe, including Troyes AC.
Sávio impresses Football fraternity
Sávio has been a key player in Girona’s exceptional run in La Liga this season. The Spanish club are currently second in the points table, just two points below table topper Real Madrid. They are marching towards scripting history and securing a position in the top four.
The Brazilian winger has featured in 27 games so far, scoring seven goals and as many assists. He averages 1 shot, 1.2 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game this season. He has been pretty decent in distributing possession in the opponent’s half with an 82.8% success rate (stats via whoscored).
Manchester City Secures A Gem In Sávio: What Does He Bring To The Team?
To be honest, Manchester City have brought a good deal for themselves ahead of the next season. Despite the player being linked to multiple big clubs across Europe, they did well to secure the talented youngster and strengthen their already star-studded squad.
Sávio is a player with great pace who likes to dribble a lot and create opportunities for his teammates. He can open the opponent’s defence in multiple ways. He can go on one vs one or also dribble his way to either cross and shoot from a range.
The youngster is versatile enough to play on both the flanks and also in the midfield as an attacking option. Hence, he is an ideal player for the Blues and can settle down pretty well. He is also likely to add competition for Jack Grealish, Jérémy Doku and Oscar Bobb as they all prefer to play at the left wing.
On the other front, Manchester City might loan him back to Girona next season so that he can improve more. He can rejoin the Blues later on and force his way into the starting XI as the City lineup is quite star studded.
