Liverpool will entertain Southampton at Anfield on Wednesday night as they look to secure a positive result in the FA Cup. The Reds managed to earn a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea after extra-time in the Carabao Cup final, so they would be eager to keep their good form going in domestic football.
Jurgen Klopp will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a lot of changes to his first XI for this game. Bobby Clarke, James McConell and Jarell Quansah will all get a chance to play from the start of this contest.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Caoimhin Kelleher will feature in between the sticks for the Reds after keeping a clean sheet in the Carabao Cup final last weekend. Jarell Quansah will function alongside Joe Gomez at the heart of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Conor Bradley could get the nod to play as the right-back while Kostas Tsimikas hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Ibrahima Konate will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Bobby Clarke, Alexis Mac Allister and James McConell will make up Klopp’s midfield as they try to dictate the tempo of the game in the middle of the park and engineer some decent chances in the final third.
Trey Nyoni will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Cody Gakpo will try to catch the eye on the left flank while Harvey Elliott tries to prove his worth as the right-sided wide player. Both of them failed to score against Chelsea recently, so they would be eager to make a difference for Liverpool in this FA Cup game.
Jayden Danns will lead the line for the Merseyside club on the offensive end of the field.
Lewis Koumas will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if the Reds are in need of a goal by then.
