The loan of Sergio Reguilon at Manchester United has been terminated. He joined United in September because Luke Shaw was out, but Shaw is now fully recovered, and another player, Tyrell Malacia, is also on the mend. As a result, United will not require Reguilon for the remainder of the season.
Sergio Reguilon to leave Manchester United
Manchester United decided to send Sergio Reguilon back to Tottenham by ending his loan deal at Old Trafford. The 27-year-old came from Spurs for the season, but there was a clause in the contract that allowed United to end the loan, and they chose to do so.
Reguilon played 12 times for United and was a late sub in the latest game at Nottingham Forest. He started seven matches and did well at Old Trafford. He came in because of injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, but now both are not available, yet United is letting him go. Shaw has a small injury, and Malacia is getting ready to come back. Diogo Dalot, who sometimes played instead of Reguilon, is considered a choice for left-back for now.
Also, Reguilon couldn’t play in United’s next Premier League game because it’s against his original team, Tottenham. United has fewer games in the second part of the season because they are not in Europe and are out of the Carabao Cup. Another player, Donny van de Beek, also left United in January. He joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the rest of the season.
Reguilon might get an opportunity to play at left-back because two of Ange Postecoglou’s left-backs, Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic, are injured. Also, Ben Davies, the third left-back, is playing as a centre-back due to injuries in the middle of the defense.
