In a recent report, TV Play stated that Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the English wide player to North London next year.
Iling-Junior’s Lack Of Game Time In Italian Football This Season
The 20-year-old has found game time hard to come by at Juventus this season and has often had to settle for a spot on the bench. Iling-Junior has done well to secure one assist in six matches for the Turin outfit during this campaign in all competitions.
The English talent has made all of his appearances as a substitute which could be why he is only averaging 0.3 shots and 0.2 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has been careful with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 75.9% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Iling-Junior is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2025. Therefore, it makes sense for Spurs to seal a move for him on the cheap next year.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Go For Iling-Junior?
Iling-Junior can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can set up the odd chance for his teammates in the attacking end of the field and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. The Juve prospect is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger if told to do so.
However, the lack of regular first-team chances has seen his confidence take a hit. Thus, it is only logical for the English youngster to opt for a change of scenery this January or at the end of this campaign.
Iling-Junior would inject more firepower into Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu. He is good enough to rival Brennan Johnson for a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the next decade.
At 20, Iling-Junior has the potential to become a future star in English football as long as he continues to develop with each season. Therefore, it makes sense for the North London club to go for him in the upcoming winter transfer period.
