Uzun’s Rapid Rise In German Football
Uzun has already managed to catch the eye while playing for Nuremberg’s senior team after putting in a run of impressive displays for them in the Bundesliga 2. The 17-year-old has netted seven goals and grabbed a couple of assists in ten matches for the German club this season in multiple competitions.
The talented teenager has been a joy to watch on the attacking end of the pitch as he is averaging 1.6 shots, 0.6 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga 2. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 80.6% in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Toffees to secure Uzun’s services on the cheap next year.
Everton Are Keeping Tabs On Uzun: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Uzun is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the final third. He can set up a few inviting chances for his teammates up top and can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range.
The Turkish starlet is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. However, he is still quite raw and would need time before he can prove his worth in top-flight football.
Recruiting Uzun would no doubt be a massive signing for the Toffees in the long run. He is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, Everton head coach Sean Dyche would be wise to go all out to land the Turkish whizkid in the January transfer window or next summer.
Uzun would be a perfect long-term successor to Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has struggled to be consistent with his performances for the Merseyside club in recent years.
