Arsenal will face off against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium this Wednesday night as they try to secure a victory in the third round of the EFL Cup. The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw in the North London derby last weekend, so they would be eager to return to winning ways in this midweek cup game on the road.
Mikel Arteta will set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a whole host of changes to his first XI for this game. Emile Smith Rowe, Jakub Kiwior and Aaron Ramsdale could all be in line to play from the start of this EFL Cup contest.
4-3-3 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Brentford
Aaron Ramsdale will operate in goal for the North London club as he hopes to secure a clean sheet away from home. Jakub Kiwior will get a chance to function alongside William Saliba at the centre of Arsenal’s defence as they look to keep the Brentford attackers quiet during the 90 minutes.
Cedric Soares will hope to prove his worth as the right-back while Takehiro Tomiyasu looks to make an impact on the other side as the left-back. Arteta would ask both of them to keep things solid defensively and try to offer some decent service to the front players.
Gabriel will be rested on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Arteta will opt for a midfield three of Jorginho, Kai Havertz and Mohamed Elneny. All three of them would be instructed to dominate possession at the centre of the park and create a few meaningful opportunities in the final third.
Fabio Vieira and Martin Odegaard will be named on the bench as they await their opportunity to influence the game in the second half if required.
Emile Smith Rowe could get a chance to shine as the left-winger while Reiss Nelson hopes to put in a productive performance on the right flank.
Eddie Nketiah will once again spearhead Arteta’s attack up top. He will have to carry most of the goal-scoring burden for his team in midweek.
Bukayo Saka will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to make a difference in the latter stages of the game if Arsenal are in need of a goal by then.
