Barcelona have confirmed on their official website about the capture of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club has sealed a move to bring the Portugal international to the Nou Camp until the end of this campaign.

Felix’s Inconsistent Loan Spell At Chelsea Recently

The 23-year-old experienced an up-and-down loan stint at Chelsea last season when he struggled to be productive with his performances in the final third. Felix banged in four goals in 20 matches for the Blues in the previous campaign on all fronts.

The Portuguese sensation was a reliable performer in the opposition half and deserves credit for averaging 3.3 shots, 0.5 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in UEFA Champions League football. He even distributed possession accurately as he made 79.5% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).

Felix is under contract at his parent club Atletico Madrid until the summer of 2029. Hence, Barca did well to sign him on a loan deal in the recently concluded transfer window.

What Will Joao Felix Add To Barcelona Boss Xavi’s Team?

Felix is a technically gifted footballer who can use his pace to get in behind the opponent’s backline. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third.

The Portuguese attacker has also got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in and around the opposition penalty box. He already knows La Liga well by now and won’t take any time to adjust to life at the Catalan club.

We can expect Felix to add more pace and firepower to Barcelona boss Xavi‘s attack. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp this season.

Furthermore, Felix has got the skill set to help Barca compete across all competitions over the next eight months. Thus, Xavi has done well to get him on board on a season-long loan deal this summer.
