In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Aston Villa are showing interest in Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand. It is understood that the Villans are hoping to land the Spanish centre-half next year.

Le Normand’s Impressive Campaign In La Liga So Far

Le Normand has made a solid start to this season after putting in a series of impressive displays at the heart of Real Sociedad’s backline. The Spanish talent has participated in five matches for the Spanish outfit during this campaign in La Liga.

The 26-year-old has been a rock at the back and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga football. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from inside his half after making 88.7% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Villans to sign him on the cheap this January or at the end of this campaign.

What Will Le Normand Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?

Le Normand is usually quick to stop the danger and doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when required. He is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team inside his half.

The Spanish sensation can even use his strong 1.87m to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He is also proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Le Normand is versatile enough to play in any of the centre-back positions but is still unproven at the highest level.

Still, Le Normand has got the skillset to be a success story at Aston Villa if Unai Emery can devise a way to bring him on board next year. We can expect him to add more bite and steel to the West Midlands club‘s backline.

At 26, Le Normand will enter his prime soon which makes him a worthy option for the Villans to consider in 2024. He might even help Aston Villa challenge across all competitions over the next few years.
