In a recent segment on Caughtoffside’s The Daily Briefing (subscription required), renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that West Ham United have identified PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare as a target for this summer transfer window. Romano wrote,
“Sticking with West Ham, Sangaré is a target for the Hammers but the player is on the transfer lists of many clubs, so it is not an easy one to get done at this stage.”
Sangare’s Impressive Run Of Form In Dutch Football Last Season
Sangare enjoyed a solid campaign at the Dutch club recently after he put in a series of dominant displays for them at the centre of the park. The 25-year-old made 45 appearances for PSV last season, netting eight goals and grabbing three assists in all competitions.
The Ivory Coast sensation was a positive influence in both halves and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.3 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.6 clearances, 1.3 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after making 84.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Will Sangare Be A Decent Choice For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?
Sangare is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a decent striker of the ball from long range.
The Ivory Coast sensation has even got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half. He can also make a few driving runs with the ball from midfield.
Someone with Sangare’s skillset will no doubt be an excellent choice for the Hammers this summer. He would add a lot of bite and steel to West Ham boss David Moyes‘ midfield and could help the East London club challenge for a European spot in the Premier League this season.
At 25, Sangare could be an ideal replacement for Declan Rice who left the Hammers earlier this summer, so Moyes should think about going all out to bring him on board before the end of this month.
