In a recent report on Pateon, The Sun’s Alan Nixon claimed that West Ham United are in talks to land Flamengo forward Pedro this summer. It is believed that the Hammers are eager to snap the Brazilian striker up during this summer transfer period.

Pedro’s Impressive Record At Flamengo Last Season

Pedro enjoyed a great campaign at the Brazilian club recently after he produced a string of productive performances as the focal point of their attack. The 26-year-old banged in 27 goals and picked up four assists in 42 matches for Flamengo last season in multiple competitions.

The Brazilian sensation was a consistent performer in the final third as he averaged 2.2 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per game in the Brasileirao. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 72.8% in the Brazilian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Brazilian club will expire at the end of 2027. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Hammers to get a deal done for him this month.

What Will Pedro Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Team?

Pedro can find a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target and has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the pitch. He is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box.

Pedro is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate alongside someone else in the final third. However, the Brazilian talent needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.

Someone with Pedro’s skillset and experience will no doubt add more goals to West Ham head coach David Moyes’ attack. He is good enough to offer some serious competition for Michail Antonio at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.

At 26, Pedro is about to enter his prime soon which makes him an ideal target for the East London club to consider during this summer transfer window. However, there are some concerns over whether he would be able to cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
