In a recent report, both O Jogo and Record (via Sport Witness) offered an update on Everton and their pursuit of Sporting starlet Youssef Chermiti. It has been stated that the Toffees are yet to agree on personal terms with the player despite agreeing on a fee with Sporting to sign him this summer.

Chermiti’s Decent Run Of Form In Portuguese Football

The talented youngster had an impressive campaign at Sporting after he managed to put in a run of productive performances for them up top. Chermiti played in 22 senior matches for his current employers last season, scoring three goals and picking up a couple of assists in all competitions.

The Portuguese youngster showed some glimpses of what he can do in the final third by averaging 1.8 shots and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. However, he needs to be more careful when distributing possession in the opposition half as evidenced by his pass success rate of 70.7% in the Portuguese top tier (stats via whoscored).

Chermiti was under a long-term contract at Sporting which could make it difficult for Everton to land him in this off-season.

Is Chermiti A Good Signing For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?

Chermiti is proficient at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the final third but is still quite raw and would need time to prove himself at the highest level.

Still, there is no denying Chermiti’s potential as he could turn out to be a future star in European football. Hence, he would be a great, long-term signing for the Toffees during this summer transfer window.

At 19, Chermiti will only get better as he matures as a footballer. Everton head coach Sean Dyche could potentially unlock the best out of him at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.

All in all, the Toffees should focus on getting a deal over the line by agreeing personal terms with the youngster as soon as possible so that they can involve him in their first-team squad ahead of the new campaign.
