In a recent report, The Times stated that Tottenham Hotspur are set to step up their chase of Gent forward Gift Orban this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Nigerian talent during this summer transfer period.

Orban’s Excellent Numbers In Belgian Football Last Season

Orban produced a string of productive performances as the focal point of Gent’s attack in the previous campaign. The Nigerian centre-forward found the back of the net 20 times and picked up a couple of assists in 22 appearances for the Belgian club last season in various competitions.

The 21-year-old was a reliable performer in front of the opponent’s goal and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 3.3 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Jupiler Pro League. However, he lacked quality when distributing the ball in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 71.4% in the Belgian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Belgian club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, Spurs will have to launch a big offer if they want to bring him to the Premier League soon.

Is Orban A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?

Orban excels at finding space for himself and usually tests the opposition keeper with his shot attempts. He is a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can also make a few decent plays for others around him in the final third.

The Nigerian talent can even time his runs well in behind the opposition defence. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution up top.

Orban will undeniably bring more goals to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu‘s attack as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.

At 21, Orban has got the potential to become a prolific forward at the highest level. Hence, he would be an excellent option for the North London club to consider in this ongoing transfer period.
