In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid have identified Shakhtar Donetsk keeper Anatoliy Trubin as a target for this summer transfer window. It is understood that Los Blancos are planning to sign the Ukrainian goalie as they look to replace Andriy Lunin in this off-season.

Trubin’s Impressive Rise In Ukrainian Football

Trubin came through the youth ranks of Shakhtar before going on to establish himself as a key member of their senior side. He managed to put in a handful of solid displays in goal for the Ukrainian club in the previous campaign.

The 22-year-old made 38 appearances for Shakhtar last season, conceding 40 goals and keeping 14 clean sheets in the process on all fronts. Trubin even caught the eye with his performances in Europe where he averaged 1.3 clearances and 9.3 long balls per game in the UEFA Europa League. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 76% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).

Trubin is under contract at the Ukrainian club until next summer. Thus, it makes sense for Los Blancos to try and arrange a cut-price move for him in this ongoing transfer window.

Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Get Trubin On Board?

Trubin can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He has got decent reflexes that help him to pull off a few important saves at the back. The Donetsk-born keeper is a solid handler of the ball as well and doesn’t have too many weaknesses in his game.

Hence, Trubin would be a terrific, long-term signing for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti this summer as he is good enough to serve as an ideal deputy to Thibaut Courtois at the Madrid club. He will definitely help Carlo Ancelotti’s side compete across all competitions in the coming years. However, the gifted youngster might need some time to settle into life in Spanish football.

At 22, Trubin has the potential to become a future star in European football. Hence, it is only logical for Los Blancos to try everything in their power to recruit him before the start of the new campaign.
