Barcelona will take on Getafe on Sunday night as they travel to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, hoping to secure all three points as the La Liga commences. The Spanish giants come into the match on the back of a dominant display against Tottenham Hotspur, where they won 4-2 to clinch the Joan Gamper trophy in the Pre-season.
Xavi will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a couple of changes to the starting XI for this weekend’s encounter. Oriol Romeu will make way for Ilkay Gundagon as he takes a spot on the bench, while Robert Lewandowski continues to lead the line up front.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted XI Vs Getafe
Defence
Marc-André ter Stegen is set to assume his position as the goalkeeper for Barca following a match against Spurs in which he let in two goals. In an effort to stifle the opposing team’s attackers in the upcoming game, Joules Kounde will join forces with Eric Garcia in the heart of Barcelona’s defence.
Alejandro Balde will get another chance to impress as the left-back, while Ronald Araujo hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the right-back. Xavi will give both of them the license to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance.
Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Frenkie de Jong, Ilkay Gundogan and Pedri will be the holding midfielders as they try to engineer clear-cut chances in the opponent’s half.
Oriol Romeu and Sergi Roberto will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if Xavi decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Gavi will get an opportunity to make a difference as the left winger while Raphinha looks to weave his magic from the right.
Robert Lewandowski will once again lead the charge for the Catalan giants on his own up top. The Polish striker will have to be a potent threat in the final third if Barca are to come out on top in this contest.
Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if Barcelona are in need of a goal by then.
