Aston Villa will lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park this Saturday as they look to secure a good result in the opening weekend of this Premier League campaign. The Villans had an inconsistent campaign last year, so they would be eager to make a good start to this Premier League season.
Unai Emery will opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could name his best available first team for this game. Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins will lead the line for the Villans in the final third.
4-4-2 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will function in goal for the Villans as he looks to earn a clean sheet on the road. Ezri Konsa will resume his centre-back partnership with Tyrone Mings as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Matty Cash will look to impress as the right-back while Pau Torres looks to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would be keen on performing their defensive duties well so that they can limit the chances Newcastle can create from the wide areas.
Calum Chambers will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara will anchor the midfield for the West Midlands club as they look to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.
Emiliano Buendia will get the nod to express himself as the left-winger while John McGinn will be given the responsibility to create some decent chances from the right flank.
Youri Tielemans will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if required.
Attack
Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby will lead the charge for the East London club up top. Both of them would be eager to find the back of the net when they lace up to face off against the Newcastle defenders this weekend.
Leon Bailey will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the latter stages if asked to do so.
