In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are set to sign Flamengo striker Petterson Novaes on loan this summer. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are initially looking to land the Brazilian prospect on loan with an option to buy him permanently at the end of this campaign.

Petterson’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football

Petterson has come through the youth ranks of Flamengo and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. The Brazilian whizkid has already made six senior appearances for Flamengo thus far but is still waiting to score his first goal for them across all competitions.

The 19-year-old is currently serving as an important member of Flamengo’s Under-20 side after playing in 29 matches for them, scoring 11 goals and securing five assists on all fronts.

His current deal at the Brazilian club will run out at the end of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for Barcelona to sign him permanently this month. Hence, a loan move makes sense for everyone involved.

Barcelona Are Set To Sign Petterson On Loan: Is He A Star In The Making?

Petterson has developed a knack for scoring his fair share of important goals for his team in the youth levels of Brazilian football. He excels at finding space for himself and can get a few strikes in at goal. The Brazilian prospect is a technically gifted footballer who can play a killer pass in the final third. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well in the opponent’s half.

Petterson mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if needed. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth at the Nou Camp.

Still, there is no denying that Petterson is a star in the making. Hence, Barcelona boss Xavi would do well to bring him on board on a loan deal with an option to buy him permanently next summer.

At 19, the future is quite bright for Petterson. However, he is still not good enough to feature in Xavi’s match-day squad and will probably be used regularly by Rafael Marquez’s Barcelona Atlètic team.
