In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Rudy Galetti claimed that Aston Villa are showing interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore this summer. Galetti said,
“Aston Villa are following some players and are waiting for the right opportunity to make some moves. They have real interest in the former Wolves winger Traore, who is now a free-agent and is still looking for a new club. Villa are exploring the opportunity to sign him.”
Traore’s Recent Season At The Molineux Stadium
Traore had an uneventful campaign at the West Midlands club recently as he struggled to find consistency in the Premier League. The 27-year-old scored three times and earned a couple of assists in 40 matches for Wolves last season across multiple competitions.
The Spanish sensation made most of his appearances off the bench but did well to average 0.6 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he lacked quality when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 74.1% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Traore Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?
Traore can use his pace to cause all sorts of problems for the opposition defenders. He is a powerful runner with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third.
Traore is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if asked to do so by his manager. However, the Spanish talent has to find a way to improve his finishing in front of the opposition goal.
Traore will add a lot of pace to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s frontline. At the very least, he would increase competition for places within the Villans‘ squad.
At 27, Traore is about to enter his prime which makes him a good choice for Emery to pursue this summer. He could add another dimension to the West Midlands club‘s attack.
Traore already knows the Premier League well and would not take any time to settle into life at Villa Park if Emery manages to bring him on board in this off-season.
