In a recent report, Defensa Central offered an update on Real Madrid and their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. It is believed that Los Blancos are willing to be patient so that they can get a €30m discount on the French attacker this summer.

Mbappe’s Stellar Record In French Football Last Season

Mbappe enjoyed an excellent campaign in Paris last season when he managed to produce plenty of match-winning displays for PSG in the final third. The French forward found the back of the net on 41 occasions and grabbed ten assists in 43 appearances for the French outfit in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.

The 24-year-old was a constant menace in front of the opponent’s goal and deserves a ton of credit for averaging  4.4 shots, 1.6 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game in Ligue 1 football. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 82.9% in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).

Mbappe’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2024. However, the competition for the striker is heating up, so it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to land him in this off-season.

What Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Do With Regards To Mbappe?

Mbappe has proven his worth as a deadly finisher in the final third over the past few years. He remains one of the most feared strikers in world football due to his electric pace and dribbling ability.

The French talent can also create a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the opponent’s half. He mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also play as a winger on either flank if told to do so.

Mbappe will bring plenty of firepower to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti and would serve as a great replacement for Karim Benzema as well.

If the Madrid club decide to wait to get Mbappe at a discount, Ancelotti has no choice but to be patient and see if they can get a deal done for the France international during this summer transfer window. However, with PSG accepting Al-Hilal’s £259m bid for Mbappe, it seems like the Madrid outfit are in a losing battle in the race to sign the talented striker this summer.
