In a recent report, Aksam stated that Tottenham Hotspur have launched a move for Galatasaray full-back Sacha Boey this summer. It is understood that Spurs have made a substantial offer to land the French talent ahead of the new season.
Boey’s Good Form In The Turkish Super Lig Last Season
The 22-year-old caught the eye with his performances on the right side of Galatasaray’s defence in the previous campaign. Boey featured in 33 matches for the Turkish outfit last season, finding the back of the net once and picking up four assists in all competitions.
The French full-back was a decent performer in both halves and did well to average 2.8 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 2.0 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He even distributed possession accurately from the right flank based on his pass completion rate of 79% in the top tier of Turkish football (stats via whoscored).
Boey is under contract at Galatasaray until the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Tottenham to get him on board on a cut-price deal in this off-season.
Is Boey A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Angelos Postecoglu?
Boey is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and can even orchestrate a few decent chances for his teammates to score. Boey is primarily a right-back but can also function as a left-back if asked to do so.
The French right-back is a good dribbler with the ball as well but could struggle to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Tottenham manage to land him this summer.
We can expect Boey to bring more quality to Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He might even help Spurs challenge for a top-four finish in the English top-flight next season.
With all things considered, Boey would be a great option for the North London club to pursue during this summer transfer window. At 22, he has got a bright future ahead of him and would serve as a solid option to play as a right-back in Postecoglu’s first XI in the coming seasons.
