In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Barcelona would have to pay €80m for Manchester City star Bernardo Silva. It is understood that Man City have set a €80m price tag for the Portuguese talent amid interest from the Catalan club this summer.

Silva’s Decent Form At The Etihad Stadium Last Season

Silva produced a run of impressive displays for Man City in the previous campaign and proved his worth as a valuable member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. The Portugal international scored seven times and picked up eight assists in 55 matches for the Mancunian club last season across all fronts.

The Lisboa-born sensation worked hard at both ends of the field as he averaged 1.3 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.7 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing the ball after completing 89.1% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

Silva is under contract at Man City until the summer of 2025. Thus, Barcelona have no choice but to meet Man City’s demands if they are serious about signing the Portuguese sensation in this off-season.

Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Move In For Silva?

Silva works his socks off in both halves. He loves a tackle and can track back when needed. The 82-time Portugal international remains a great dribbler with the ball and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for others around him in the final third. He can even strike the ball with venom and precision from long range.

Silva is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or play as a right-winger if asked to do so.

Silva would have added more firepower to Barcelona boss Xavi’s attack. At 28, he has entered his prime and is only going to improve over the next couple of seasons. However, the Catalan giants do not have the financial muscle to pull off such a big-money move for the Man City attacker this summer.

Therefore, the Catalan club should not move in for Silva as they would be better off finding a cheaper alternative before the end of this summer transfer period.
