In a recent report, Marca claimed that Real Madrid defender Rafa Marin is on the radar of Villarreal. It has been stated that the Yellow Submarine are trying to sign the Spanish youngster from Los Blancos this summer.

Marin’s Impressive Rise In The Spanish Capital

The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks of Real Madrid but is still waiting to make his first senior appearance for the club. However, Marin deserves credit for establishing himself as an important member of the Madrid club’s B team recently.

The gifted starlet has participated in 68 matches for Real Madrid Castilla so far, netting three goals and earning one assist on all fronts. Marin has caught the eye with his performances for Los Blancos on the defensive third of the pitch.

His current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out next summer. Hence, the Madrid giants might be inclined to cash in on him in this off-season or else risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

What Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Do With Regards To Marin?

Marin can sense the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He loves a tackle and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. Marin is primarily a central defender but can also fill in as a left-back if told to do so by his manager.

Standing at 1.91m, the Spanish talent can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. He is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.

We can expect Marin to do well at Villarreal where he will be guaranteed more playing time. The youngster needs a change of scenery if he wants to taste some first-team football in the coming seasons.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti simply cannot afford to offer Marin a spot in his match-day squad for the upcoming campaign. Los Blancos would be better off selling him before the start of the new campaign so that they can use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their team.
