In a recent tweet, journalist Adrian Sanchez mentioned that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Real Valladolid starlet Ivan Fresneda this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are hoping to secure the services of the Spanish full-back in this ongoing transfer window.

Fresneda’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football Last Season

Fresneda enjoyed a decent season at the Spanish club after putting in a string of solid performances on the right side of their backline. The Spanish prospect made 24 senior appearances for Real Valladolid in the previous campaign, picking up three yellow cards across all fronts.

The 18-year-old managed to impress at both ends of the field as he averaged 2.2 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 2.0 clearances, 0.8 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in La Liga. He even distributed the ball relatively well as he made 80.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Real Valladolid will run out in 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to get him on board on a cut-price deal this summer.

Real Madrid Are Eyeing A Move For Fresneda: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Fresneda is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can also engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half. The Spanish whizkid is a decent dribbler with the ball as well but is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in top-flight football.

Fresneda will be a great acquisition for Los Blancos as he will bolster their defence for the future. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Real Madrid next season.

At 18, Fresneda has the potential to become one of the best players in his position someday. Thus, Carlo Ancelotti will do well to lure him to the Spanish capital before the end of this transfer window. Fresneda is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the coming seasons which makes him an ideal, long-term target for the Madrid giants to pursue this summer.
