According to a report from Express, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag provided a brief update on Mason Greenwood, revealing that despite transfer interest from Italian and Turkish clubs, United are keeping him suspended. Furthermore, ten Hag emphasized that any decision regarding Mason Greenwood’s future will be in the hands of the club’s higher-ups.
“It’s a club decision,” the Dutchman said. “Of course, I have said my ideas and opinions, but it’s a club decision. We all have to accept that.” And when pressed further, Ten Hag added: “I can’t say so much about it. But what I say is I shared my opinion about it so let’s see what’s going to happen and what the decision will be.”
Greenwood’s Controversial Arrest
In January 2022, Greenwood last appeared for Man United, starting in their 1-0 Premier League triumph against West Ham at Old Trafford. However, following an arrest, the club suspended the 21-year-old forward. Despite the Crown Prosecution Service dropping its case against him for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control in February, United’s board are conducting an internal investigation, leaving his future uncertain as the new season approaches. Nonetheless, many fans are eager to see Greenwood return to Old Trafford and resume playing in the upcoming season.
Will The Youngster Remain At Manchester United For The Following Season?
One of Mason Greenwood’s most outstanding attributes is his clinical finishing ability. Equipped with a natural instinct for goal-scoring, he has a remarkable calmness in front of the net that belies his age. Whether it’s a powerful strike from a distance, a composed finish in a one-on-one situation, or a deft touch to find the corners of the net, Greenwood displays a maturity beyond his years.
He is equally adept at playing on the right wing or as a central striker, and he possesses the rare ability to adapt to different positions on the field. An excellent dribbler of the ball, Greenwood possesses an innate ability to glide past defenders with ease. His close ball control allows him to maintain possession even under pressure, making him a difficult player to dispossess. This skill also enables him to create space for himself and his teammates, often leading to dangerous attacking opportunities.
Since arriving at Old Trafford last summer, the United boss has engaged in multiple discussions with the player, indicating his openness to collaborating with the highly-regarded forward. Ten Hag has openly expressed his admiration for Greenwood’s talent and acknowledged his proficiency in scoring goals. However, the decision to retain his services at Old Trafford lies with the Red Devils’ Chiefs, and we can only wait to see what his future beholds.
