According to a report from Football.London, Chelsea are on the verge of finalising a deal as personal terms have been agreed with Mohammed Kudus of Ajax this summer. Ajax have officially stated that Kudus is currently unavailable for training due to ‘medical reasons.’ In addition to communicating with Kudus’ representatives, the Blues have also approached Ajax to explore the potential of securing a transfer for the talented Ghana international.

Kudus’ Remarkable Form In Dutch Football

During his time at the Dutch club, Kudus delivered a commendable performance, showcasing impressive skills in the attacking third. In 42 matches across all competitions last season, the 22-year-old netted an impressive 18 goals and provided seven assists for Ajax.

In the Eredivisie, Kudus proved a dependable asset in the opposition’s half, registering an average of 2.3 shots, 1.0 key passes, and 3.0 dribbles per 90 minutes. Furthermore, his pass success rate of 87.6% in top-flight football highlighted his accuracy in distributing the ball (stats via whoscored).

What Can Chelsea Expect from Kudus?

Kudus can create space for himself, allowing him to take accurate shots on target. His powerful strikes from long range and his vision to set up meaningful opportunities for his teammates in the attacking third make him a valuable asset.

The Ghanaian international also showcases excellent dribbling skills and rarely relinquishes possession cheaply in the opponent’s half. These attributes align perfectly with Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino’s style of play, making Kudus a seamless fit for the team.

With Kudus in their ranks, Chelsea can anticipate an increase in goals and creativity in their frontline. His presence may contribute to the Blues’ contention for major honours in the upcoming years. As such, Pochettino would be wise to prioritize securing a deal for him in this summer transfer window.
