In an exclusive report, The Sun have learned that Manchester United have released David De Gea from the club. However, rather than allowing him to join another team, the Red Devils have requested that he refrains from signing with any new club. This move indicates that Man United wants De Gea to remain available in case they cannot secure a suitable replacement as their primary goalkeeper within their designated transfer budget.

De Gea’s Performance for Manchester United Last Season

During his tenure at Man United, the 2022/23 season held immense significance for David De Gea. As the club’s longstanding goalkeeper, he faced increased scrutiny despite having fewer competitors vying for his position. One notable aspect of De Gea’s game that continued to shine was his shot-stopping ability. His sharp reflexes and agility were evident as he consistently made crucial saves throughout the season.

De Gea made 38 appearances in the Premier League and impressively kept 17 clean sheets. According to Whoscored, he averaged 2.6 saves per match, showcasing his capability to thwart opponents’ scoring attempts. Additionally, De Gea displayed proficiency in distributing the ball to his teammates, maintaining composure and precision in his passes.

Should The Spaniard Wait For United Or Seek Another Club?

In 2019, De Gea penned a substantial contract that made him the highest-paid player at Old Trafford and the highest earner in the Premier League, earning a weekly salary of £375,000. Now at the age of 32, the goalkeeper acknowledges that he may not command the same level of remuneration but still desires a contract that accurately reflects his value.

Given the recent developments, the question arises as to whether De Gea should exercise patience and await further developments at Old Trafford or explore the possibility of joining another club. Regardless of the outcome, his contributions and achievements throughout the season are a testament to his skills and professionalism.
