Turkish outlet Aksam according to the Mirror, has reported that Galatasaray have expressed interest in acquiring Manchester United’s Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga. Telles, who operates as a left-back, has prior experience with Galatasaray, having made 60 appearances for the club between January 2014 and August 2015.
Telles’s Loan Spell With Sevilla Last Season
Telles enjoyed a successful loan spell with Sevilla last season, delivering impressive performances in the defence over 32 appearances for the Spanish outfit across all competitions. Telles’s contributions also helped Brazil secure qualification to last year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup.
However, the Brazil international has not displayed impressive statistics during his time, with the Spanish outfit averaging only 0.8 tackles, 0.7 key passes, 0.7 interceptions, and 1.3 clearances per game in La Liga. Nevertheless, he has demonstrated accuracy in passing, completing 81.1% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top division (stats via whoscored).
Should Ten Hag Sanction His Exit From Manchester United?
Alex Telles, a talented left-back, possesses a range of abilities that make him a valuable asset on the pitch. Known for his attacking prowess, Telles excels at overlapping runs and providing dangerous crosses into the box. His excellent delivery from set pieces adds an extra dimension to his team’s attacking options.
Defensively, Telles displays good positional awareness and the ability to make crucial interceptions and tackles. He is also comfortable in possession, displaying composure and the ability to initiate attacking moves from the back.
Despite possessing impressive technical skills, physical attributes, and an offensive mindset, Telles finds himself in a challenging position at Man United. The club already has ample depth in the left-back position, with players like Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia excelling in their roles.
Consequently, Telles would face stiff competition and potentially receive less playing time due to the abundance of talent in the defensive department. Given these circumstances, it might be more beneficial for Man United boss Erik ten Hag to consider sanctioning Telles’ departure during the summer transfer window, provided a suitable offer is presented.
