In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Aston Villa are set to move in for Bayer 04 Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer. It has been stated that the Villans are hoping to secure the services of the French speedster during this summer transfer period.

Diaby’s Impressive Run Of Form In Bundesliga Last Season

Diaby enjoyed a fruitful season at Bayer Leverkusen recently after he produced several influential displays for them out on the flanks. The France international did well to register 14 goals and secure 11 assists in 48 appearances for his current employers in the previous campaign across all fronts.

The talented wide player gave a good account of himself on the right flank as he averaged 2.4 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in Bundesliga football. He even distributed possession with conviction in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 79.2% in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Diaby is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2025. Thus, the Villans will have to make a convincing offer if they want to bring him to England ahead of the new season.

Should Aston Villa Head Coach Unai Emery Bring Diaby On Board?

Diaby can use his pace to cause a lot of problems for the opposition defenders out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball purely and with power from all ranges.

The French sensation has even got the eye to unlock the opponent’s defence with a killer pass in the final third. He usually functions as a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if required.

Diaby will add plenty of pace and goals to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attacking department. He has what it takes to earn a regular starting place at Villa Park next season. However, only time will tell whether Diaby can cope with the physicality and high intensity of English football.

The Leverkusen star might even help the Villans challenge for a major trophy in the coming years. Therefore, Emery should focus on going all out to bring Diaby on board before the end of this transfer window.
