In a recent report, The Daily Mail revealed that Aston Villa have joined the race for Bayer 04 Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer. It has been stated that the Villans are looking to bring the French wide player to Villa Park during this summer transfer window.

Diaby’s Excellent Record In German Football Last Season

Diaby enjoyed a brilliant campaign at the German club as he was responsible for putting in a lot of productive performances for them in the final third. The Frenchman deserves credit for scoring 14 goals and grabbing 11 assists in 48 matches for Leverkusen last season across various competitions.

The 24-year-old was a consistent performer on the right flank based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 79.2% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Bundesliga club will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, Aston Villa would have to pay a hefty fee if they want to lure him to Villa Park in this off-season.

What Will Diaby Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?

Diaby can engineer a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can even orchestrate a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third.

The French sensation is a great dribbler with the ball as well and can use his quickness to cause a ton of headaches for his marker. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Villans manage to get him on board this summer.

We can expect Diaby to add more pace and goals to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s attack. He might even help the West Midlands club push for European football in the Premier League next season. Thus, Emery should focus on trying everything in his power to bring Diaby to Villa Park before the end of this transfer window.
