In a recent report, Calciomercato revealed that Aston Villa are showing interest in Juventus ace Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been stated that the Villans are hoping to get a deal done for the Italy international during this summer transfer window.

Chiesa’s Inconsistent Season In Italian Football

Chiesa had an up-and-down season at the Allianz Stadium as he put in a few productive displays but struggled to be consistent for Juve in the final third. The Italian winger featured in 33 matches for the Turin club in the previous campaign, scoring four times and earning six assists in multiple competitions.

The 25-year-old was a reliable performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He even distributed possession relatively well after completing 78.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2025. Therefore, the Villans will have to launch a sizable offer if they want to recruit the Italian wide player ahead of the new campaign.

What Will Chiesa Bring To Aston Villa?

Chiesa can use his quickness to make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and can set up a few decent chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch.

The Genova-born talent mainly operates as a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided player or play as a secondary striker down the middle if needed.

Chiesa will undeniably bring more goals and creativity to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s frontline. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at Villa Park next season.

At 25, Chiesa will only get better in the coming seasons which makes him a decent target for the Villans this summer. He could help the West Midlands club push for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season. However, there are some question marks over whether he would be able to make a smooth transition to life in English football.

Still, Emery should focus on getting a deal done for the Juventus wide player before the end of this transfer window.
