In a recent interview (via Eurosport), Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is dreaming of a Real Madrid move this summer. The Brazilian forward revealed that he is dreaming of a switch to join Los Blancos but is currently focusing on justifying his pricetag at the North London club.
Richalison’s Underwhelming Season In The Premier League
Richarlison experienced a tough campaign at North London as he struggled to be consistent with his contributions on the attacking third of the pitch. The 26-year-old scored three goals and picked up four assists in 35 matches for Tottenham last season on all fronts.
The Nova Venecia-born talent has caught the eye at times in the final third based on his average of 1.0 shots and 0.6 key passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has also been a bit untidy with his ball distribution after completing 72.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the London club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to arrange a move for him in this off-season.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Move In For Richarlison?
Richarlison excels at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well when he is playing at the top of his game on the field. Richarlison is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger if needed.
Someone with the Brazil international’s skillet could be a good, short-term signing for Los Blancos to consider this summer. However, he is far from consistent and would be a downgrade over Karim Benzema who recently parted ways with the Madrid giants.
We can expect Richarlison to add some firepower to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s attack. At 26, he has his best years ahead of him. However, Los Blancos would be better off opting for a more proven talent like Kylian Mbappe and only move in for Richarlison if they fail to land the French striker during this summer transfer window.
