In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb revealed that Aston Villa have set their sights on Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix. It has been claimed that the Villans are eyeing a move to bring the Portuguese talent to Villa Park this summer.

Felix’s Unimpressive Loan Spell At Stamford Bridge

Felix had an underwhelming loan spell at Chelsea recently as he failed to be consistent for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The 23-year-old participated in 40 matches for the Blues last season, scoring just four goals in the process across various competitions.

The Portuguese sensation failed to be productive up top but did well to average 1.9 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.3% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Felix is under contract at his parent club Atletico Madrid until the summer of 2027. Hence, it would take a big fee for the Villans if they are serious about signing him in this off-season.

Is Felix A Dream Option For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?

Felix struggled to be a consistent goal-getter for Chelsea last season but there is no denying his quality in the final third. He has got the pace to beat his marker out on the flanks and can be a streaky scorer for his side when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field.

The Portugal international can also create some decent chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half but has to find a way to be more decisive up top. Felix is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a left-winger if asked to do so by his manager.

The Atletico Madrid attacker will undeniably be a dream option for Aston Villa to consider this summer. He knows the Premier League by now and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at Villa Park.

Unai Emery is a good man-manager and could unlock the best out of Felix at the West Midlands club in the coming seasons. Therefore, the Villans would be wise to go all out to land the Portuguese forward before the start of the new campaign.
