Barcelona are one of the most successful Spanish clubs in Europe as they have won a lot of major trophies at the highest level. The Catalan club managed to clinch the La Liga title but failed to compete for a European trophy in the 2022-23 campaign.

Before we take a look at how many times Barca have won the Champions League, let’s find out about their first European success.

The Catalan giants lifted their first European Cup in the 1991-92 season. They have gone on to win the famous trophy four more times over the years in the Champions League era.

Xavi will now hope to lead them to another Champions League win when the 2023-24 season gets underway. However, the Barca head coach will have a major rebuilding job on his hands in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have won a total of five European Cups. The Catalan club have lifted the UEFA Champions League four times so far (via transfermarkt).

As mentioned earlier, Barca won it for the first time in the 1991-92 campaign. The Catalan giants have gone on to lift the famous trophy four more times in the Champions League era.

After Xavi managed to lead Barcelona to win the La Liga title in the 2022-23 season, Barca fans would be optimistic about their club’s chances of becoming European champions once again next year.

However, it won’t be an easy task with so many top contenders fighting it out for the elusive trophy every year. Still, there is no denying Barcelona‘s history in the Champions League as they remain one of the most successful teams in the competition’s history.
